ODOT officials s {keyword} ay brutal winter weather has forced them to cancel work this week on the $200million I-71/670 project and delay a planned traffic adjustment on Long Street until next week. Before Mondayâs temperature dip, crews had regularly worked from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on theinterstate, said Nancy Burton, a spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Transportation. But at 9 p.m. on Monday, the temperature was 12 degrees, according to the National WeatherService. At 4 a.m. Tuesday, it was 9 degrees.âHuman beings cannot endure prolonged exposure to that,â Burton said. The lingering cold and a forecast of snow forced ODOT to cancel all work on the project thisweek. It will resume next week.Despite the delay, the project is still on schedule, Burtonsaid.Weather also caused a delay in re-stripi {keyword} ng Long Street to allow for continuing work on thebridge over I-71. The re-striping will move the one-way eastbound traffic from the southern part ofthe street to the northern pa {keyword} rt.That is now tentatively scheduled for next week.
